Saturn vehicles are a product of Saturn Corporation which is a wholly owned subsidiary of the automobile giant General Motors (GM). Founded on the 7th of January, 1985 the production of Saturn started in the year 1990 and serves the market of Canada and the United States. Saturn came as a substitute to the imports of small cars from Japan to the United States. Saturn got its name from the American rocket that was sent to the moon. The Saturn L-Series was launched in the year 2000 as a mid-size sedan and also station wagons. The Saturn L-Series utilized the Saturn I4 and V6 engines with a 4 speed automatic transmission or the 5-speed manual transmission. The Saturn Relay was launched in the year 2005 and was manufactured at the Doraville, Georgia plant. It became the first vehicle from Saturn that was manufactured without the polymer side paneling. The Saturn Sky Roadster is yet another one from the Saturn Corporation. It is the first roadster from the company. The Saturn Car is a launch for the year 2007. The Saturn Roadster shares the Kappa automobile platform with the Pontiac Solstice at the Wilmington, Delaware General Motors plant. The Saturn roadster has a 2.4 L Ecotec LE5 I4 engine. The car comes with an option for either the manual transmission or the automatic transmission with 5 gears. |
